Position summary

What Success Looks Like

In 3 months

  • Understand the high-level data flows and architecture used in Arcadia’s Life Sciences data pipeline

  • Collaborate with existing SMEs to learn and support data refresh activities.

  • Contribute to development on high priority features, including data product enhancements.

  • Complete onboarding requirements and team-specific training

In 6 months

  • Achieve a deep understanding of the data flows and architecture used in Arcadia’s Life Sciences data pipeline and understand the related key strategic development projects

  • Contribute to the design and build of more complex and impactful features, including making improvements to the pipeline to improve stability, performance, and orchestration/automation. 

  • Actively contribute to discussions around feature/system design

In 12 months

  • Continued excellence in building and deploying product features and technical improvements

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate technical debt and improve development and delivery practices and efficiencies

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leveraging Arcadia’s cutting-edge data processing stack – including Spark, AWS Glue, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Snowflake – to support the delivery of data products to our Life Sciences customers. 
  • Implementing changes to the data- and data processing- architectures to improve stability, performance, and automation of the data delivery process and ensure compatibility with large-scale organization data changes.
  • Building out data enhancements to unlock key customer use cases of Arcadia’s massive healthcare data assets. 
  • Collaborating with cross-functional business and operations stakeholders to debug and support data delivery tasks.
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to improve software development processes (SDLC) and technological investment opportunities.

What You'll Bring

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience in at least one of Scala, Java, and/or Python
  • Strong object oriented and/or functional programming fundamentals
  • Experience with distributed systems and technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the challenges of working with large-scale, complex data sets and data pipelines
  • Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Proven ability to deliver production software, including the use of Git/GitHub and CI tools
  • Commitment to learning new skills and improving upon existing ones

Would Love For You To Have

  • Experience developing and deploying data processing applications on Kubernetes
  • Healthcare data experience, such as EHR or Claims data
  • Experience with using AWS services, such as S3, MSK, SQS, Athena, Glue
  • DevOps experience, such as automating infrastructure and services in the AWS cloud
